OUR STORY
MEET THE DIRECTOR, JAMES GARDNER
The PDY&F Community Garden was born out of a simple yet powerful idea—to combat hunger through education and innovation. It all started with James Gardner, an educator who noticed many of his students were struggling to focus in class, distracted by hunger. Determined to find a solution, he turned to the internet and stumbled upon a man growing food without soil using hydroponics and aquaponics.
Inspired, James envisioned a way to not only provide fresh food but also empower the community to grow their own food in unconventional ways. What began as a search for answers blossomed into the PDY&F Community Garden—a thriving hub where traditional and innovative growing techniques come together to fight food insecurity and cultivate a new generation of growers. Today, the garden is a space for learning, collaboration, and community, promoting self-sufficiency and sustainable living while addressing food deserts head-on.
